What is MCG?
MCG is an internet-based system designed to assist physicians in diagnosing CAD ischemia and other heart conditions. The MCG system is fast, accurate and cost effective. It is non-invasive as well as both stress and radiation free, making it an excellent first-line diagnostic tool.
How Does MCG Work?
MCG is a unique multi-dimensional approach to ischemia detection. Where a conventional ECG uses a two-dimensional plot of the heart’s activity (Milivolts over Microseconds) MCG goes further. By applying advanced signal processing techniques MCG is able to extend the analysis of the ECG signal into the frequency domain and extract latent information which is unavailable with traditional time-domain ECG.
Both the time domain and frequency-domain data are run through a sophisticated multiphase analysis, comparing them against a normalized database of results from healthy patients and those with clinically validated pathologies.
MCG analysis yields a primary diagnosis for borderline, local or global cardiac ischemia, as well as a disease severity score which quantifies the overall risk of cardiac disease.
A set of differential secondary and tertiary diagnosis for “rule out” use are also provided, including positive or negative results for rheumatic, congenital and pulmonary heart disease, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, previous myocardial infarction and ventricular hypertrophy.
